A wholesome, positive, happy place – both traditional and forward-thinking. Benefits from being a real seven-day a week boarding school, with lots to do at weekends. Pupils, whether they’re academic or sporty, musical or artistic, seem to love it and results are good too. The previous head told us that children ‘aren’t “sent” to boarding school any more – they come because they wish to’. It’s still very much the case here. Uppingham praised for “excellent-all round education”

Uppingham School has been praised by the Independent Schools Inspectorate for providing “an excellent all-round education within a close-knit community”.

The fully co-educational boarding School of 791 pupils in the county of Rutland excelled both in its academic and non-academic curricula, said the report which was compiled following a formal inspection in January.

Oxbridge entrances for 2011 very strong

Uppingham has prided itself throughout its 400-year history on offering ‘all-round education’ .  50% of its applicants to Oxford and Cambridge Universities have had offers for 2011.
